Don't you just love simple, little surprises in your day? Yesterday, we were heading out to the Girl Scouts store because Emma is starting Daisy's this week and we needed the little tunic. I had never been there before and so I drove right passed it. I realized and went to turn around at the next street, which is where I happened upon the Andover Flower Farm.
It was such a gorgeous Autumn site! I simply could not resist the urge to stop. They had the most beautiful mums everywhere in all shades of the season with pumpkins scattered throughout. Emma yelled, "Mommy, let's get some flowers". Even more to our surprise, they had some animals for the kids to see... and best of all, those pumpkins I mentioned were Liam's first encounter with "Bunkins" this year. He obviously doesn't really recall them from last year, because he was only one.
Age two is such a magical time of discovery. The most simple things in life are full of wonder and joy for a two year old and it carries right over to you as a parent. I love how they remind me to appreciate the little things found in everyday life. His excitement over these "Bunkins" is a memory that I'll cherish forever. His toddler language also just melts my heart. I've really tried to focus on capturing these treasured words in my scrapbook journaling for him lately. They pass through this stage so quickly and these sweet jumbled up words are corrected before you even know it. I love these words and want to remember them, so recording them through the journaling on relevant pages is a must for me.
Okay, onto a project or two to share. I've been busy, busy working on my assignments for the upcoming October issue of Scrapbook News and Review, as well as a few special projects... but can't share those yet! What I can share is the fall basket I created from a recent recycled find. I managed to snag this beautiful basket from the fingerling potatoes my husband brought home before he threw it in the recycling bin, thank goodness!
So simple to capture a bit of country charm with a basket like this. All I had to do was add a touch of paint, Ranger Distress Ink, my favorite May Arts gingham ribbon, Melissa Frances sticker (LOVE these fall stickers), an old button, crochet trim, and a handful or two of kraft shred. That's it! I'm not sure, but I think I may see caramel apples in this basket's future. It would make a lovely gift that way!
And, a Happy Birthday card who's heading over to my Etsy shop. This is created with lots of really fun paper from American Crafts, love the bold and cheery colors and patterns in the Craft Fair line, and topped off with some Bazzill ribbon and a Doodlebug gem.
Thanks so much for coming by. Hope you'll get the chance today to enjoy something sweet and simple too!
xo,
Jennifer
